Learning during Covid-19
In the event of a local or national lockdown or if a bubble has to close, we have a duty to provide home learning for pupils during school term time. We have now evaluated all of your completed questionnaires (51 were returned out of 55!) and it is very clear that online learning (which is what the government have asked schools to provide) will not work for some of our families. It is clear that a combination of work is preferable including some online resources, suggestions for learning areas and work packs would be more successful for families.
So, here is the plan in the event of school closure.
1. Your child will be sent home with some suggested activities and this would also be emailed to you. This is a grid of learning through the topic area (currently Food and Farming during the Autumn Term). We have uploaded this here for your convenience. The relevant support sheets would also be sent home (also uploaded here). If the school had to close and you were informed of this when the children were at home (possibly at the weekend), the work packs would be placed in the Reception shed to be collected. Families having to self isolate or who are unable to pick up work packs would need to let us know and we can leave the work packs on your doorstep.
2. The class teacher would then email you or contact you through Whatsapp about learning going forward. This would be a combination of online learning, activities to do at home or worksheets (emailed or collected).
If we do have a situation where we have to close a bubble or the school, teachers will be in contact with you about work that your child can complete. However, if your child has to self isolate at any point or you wish to get started immediately (at the point of closure), the following websites are a good place to start.
Oak Academy (this is the government-funded learning website through lockdown). Click on the link and select your year group for the weekly lessons:
BBC Bitesize has lessons sorted by year group and points your child to learning appropriate for the term:
Mathletics - your child will need their Mathletics login to access the learning. Tasks will be set by the class teacher for your child to complete:
Lexia (some children in school have a Lexia login). Your child will need their password. Click on the link:
